BIOLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGIST -
I'm interested in the visualization of temporal and sequential patterns. We're great at seeing patterns in space, crummy at seeing patterns in time. I want to build a "macroscope" that will transmogrify temporal patterns to spatial. I think music visualization is a very natural starting point, and the results should be beautiful and intersting, but the macroscope would be applicable to all sorts of phenomena which are structured in ways to which our nervous systems are not "naturally tuned." I'd like to collaborate with a programmer familiar with visualization and music software.
SCULPTOR -
This is a wonderful site! I am a sculptor and am writing an aesthetic theory that can hopefully be helpful in teaching sculpture. It incorporates physics and neuroscience. I would like to find a neuroscientist and/or physicist to work with. I believe that the ideas, if correct as applicable in aesthetics, could have implications in other fields as well, including these sciences.
CIVIL ENGINEER -
I am a civil engineer specializing in project management (quality management, risk evaluation, planning and scheduling, contract administration, expediting). I am currently studying full time to obtain a bachelor's of art history. From engineering I retain an interest in how groups or corporations work and why they work the way they do. In art history I am interested in finding out the paradigms of societies through the way they are expressed in art and how later generations have viewed these paradigms and incorporated or rejected them.
GRADUATE STUDENT -
I am a freelance artist in Manhattan who is in the process of finishing a degree in biology. I actually was interviewed and given a seat as an alternate for the Physician assistant Program at SUNY Stonybrook. I mostly enjoy surrealism and fantasy.(involving human anatomy.) My ultimate goal is to meld both things I love into some sort of career. My question is: Where do I start or where do I go to start to research this idea?
DIRECTOR OF UNIVERSITY GALLERIES -
I am the Director of the galleries at a major science research university in the Midwest. [USA]. Our institution is traditionally known as an engineering, science, and technology university and I would like to find a way to present art exhibitions that would have relevance to that realm. I stumbled on your site and thought that there might be potential for interested artists to either collaborate with scientists here and/or participate in our Galleries program.
RESEARCH BIOLOGIST / ARTIST -
I'm a research biologist and artist. I work in a contract research lab on cell biology and immunology and pursue my art whenever possible. I'm looking to work with other scientist to put together a collection of BioArt. What I really need is some scientists to donate images which I can use as starting points for exploration via digital manipulation. The sample forms you have are simple and straightforward and the idea is sound. I look forward to seeing how the searching scripts will work. Thanks for the service.
DIGITAL MEDIA ARTIST -
I work in digital media with an emphasis on imaging and output. Broad interest in art/science collaborations in research and production. Specific areas include the behavior of artificial and natural light; visualizations of Bell's Theorum in addition to how it may apply to notions of intent. Also interested in technological research in light conducting polymers.
MUSIC PRODUCERS -
My partners and I have a web site and a CD that was originally recorded for Electra Records.( all rights reserved) We have a concept for a continuing story we intend to have produced as either a comic book or animated cartoon. All songs on the CD are thematically connected to the story. We're looking for Writers/Artists to conjugate with us to bring the written and visual aspects of the project commensurate with the quality of the CD prior to presentation.
LEONARDO TYPE -
I am a practicing transmedia artist, an active comparative bio-mechanician, and a successful technologist who exposes the structure of selves by developing reflective bio-mimetic machines that swim, crawl, and fly. I exhibit as an artist, publish as a scientist, secure government funding for my R&D corporation, and hold several patents. I would be interested in collaborations and a subscription to your index.
PERFORMANCE ARTIST -
This is fantastic - i am an emerging
artist in cross media performance works and will be looking for international collaborators in science fields. i am a writer and performer in cross media work and am moving into facilitation as well.
INFORMATION PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCHER -
I work in the areas of informational behavior and informational psychology: methods for evaluating user attention, dynamic architecture for the web, systems for measuring the subjective time, new navigation systems for the web, individualized search. Iâd like to find people who work in these areas. I am ready to apply my knowledge to any artistic projects making it more smart and personalized for the user.
VISUAL ARTIST -
I am an artist, currently working with a Mycologist, both based in London. I have been working with micro-fungi, in particular airborne moulds from which I have been making 'live' artworks. I wish to develop the visual artworks that I am working on, and work perhaps with a wider section of the science community. Since the work is becoming more environmental, I am considering members of the environmental sciences. I also would like to work more internationally, so would be seeking collaborators further a field. I would also be interested in working with other artist/scientist collaborations to pool ideas, skill, resources etc.
PH.D. CANDIDATE IN HISTORY OF SCIENCE -
My work in the history of science involves the intersection between art and science, more specifically the production and uses of natural history and medical images from 1500-1800. Since I am neither an artist nor a scientist, Iâm not sure Iâm the user you had in mind. But for me, the prospect of getting in touch with people who might share a different approach to this sort of topic, and who might be able to help me push my research in other directions is really exciting.
