ADDENDUM:
(Q/A's that came out of 1st two site visits)
Tower Project.... 1) 120 volt ac for computer and or other control systems will be supplied from LSC's normal electrical distribution system. 2) Clarification: At any given point on the glass pyramid roof and/or on its main structural members, the total weight must not exceed 8lbs per square foot. 3) What means of attachment is allowable to the metal support structure of the pyramid? Attachment via some type of clamping mechanism is preferred. 4) Availability of space above elevator shaft for controls or light source? Yes, this is available, however it will probably have a limited weight allowance. Other locations that have easy access for maintenance are more desirable. 5) Points method of attachment in the lower section of the tower? In addition to the structural beams, the sheetrock built-out areas (to conceal conduit), may be used to make attachments. 6) What is the availability and height capability of on-site scissors lift? The lift will fit in the elevator and can make the turn into the tower. The height of the lift is 19'. You will need a staff person to operate the lift. 7) What is the maximum ambient temperature in the lower tower and the pyramid? Just over 100 degrees F. Outdoor Interactive Project...... 1) Please clarify location/clearance requirements from walls & railings? Placement...it can only be located along the low railing wall, between the two larger-sized weather instruments (10ft.) that are mounted on the railing wall. (see photo of deck in the Guidelines.) Leave ample room for access for any items requiring maintenance 2) What are the size/space limitations? Total weight should not exceed that outlined in the Guidelines and the total size should be limited to an 10' x 10'footprint (centered along the longer railing area). 3) Can the design utilize water as an element? Prefer contained/enclosed water... for health/safety issues. 4) Can the work be installed via attachment to the parapet wall? No - - would prefer to bolt to the tile flooring if need be. 4) We will be installing approximately 1 KW of PV cells. (The exact capacity will be dependent on the panels actually installed. The output varies somewhat from one manufacturer to the next.) This will be the rated output under "full sun". The output from the panels will be supplied directly to the display. There will be no battery storage provided by GPUE at this location. The output will vary with available light. The nominal voltage will most likely be at 12 or 24 volts dc. We would work with the artist, with in reason, to best satisfy his or her particular needs. Remember,,, email |
