STATEMENT
FLIES comes from a larger body of work which will result
in the multi-media performance, ABACUSPARTS. This work, conceived
and produced by Danielle Wilde and Romy Achituv, is an exploration
of the possibilities that are afforded by the diverse backgrounds
of an eclectic group of performers and creators in response to
the introduction of digital space into a performance context.
As a group we are continually trying to reflect upon technology
as a message while playing with it as medium. The props and techniques
we use impose conditions for their use and these constrictions,
in turn, affect and modify the performers responses, their movement,
their interaction with one another, their attitude and behavior.
FLIES is an example of a "2D choreography" which,
in performance is presented on stage, captured real-time and
simultaneously projected. In juxtaposing real-time performance
and computer-mediated representation we are exploring issues
of time and space, of reality and fantasy, of the social gaze
and aesthetic convention.
The principle collaborators on ABACUSPARTS are New Media
artist
Romy Achituv, Performance Designer, Danielle Wilde, Choreographers
Yasmeen Godder and Charlotte Griffin and Dominika Dery, Composer Jolle Droz and
author and Dreamer Bosmat Alon.
Dominika
