zoetropes in plaza with rainbow rings
"Les Zoetropes" by John Powell, is a public art project commissioned by B.V. Development for the plaza of their three new high rise building complex in Boston where New Balance and WGBH Boston will be occupants. There will be three, 23 feet tall, wind driven zoetropes built of anodized aluminum with a steel mast at their center. The rainbow ring in the plaza image indicates the viewing points for the different bands of the zoetrope--there will be inlaid "stand points" scattered around the plaza--suggesting where viewers can stand for optimal site lines--along with text describing the imagery. The zoetropes should be up and running by the Spring--if not sooner.
