--------------------

Dear Friends,

I know you are all aware of the terrible tragedy that has happened in New Orleans.  My dear friend and fellow artist, Jack Ox, and a friend or colleague to many of you, has been living there for the past several years, and some of you have visited her and enjoyed her generous hospitality.

She finally escaped from the city on Wed in a two seater car left to her by a neighbor with only a quarter of tank of gas. All she could take with her are her two cats, her laptop and hard drive, water, a change of clothes, and the little bit of cash she had in the house.  Miraculously she made it out and was able to get gas, at which point she drove alone all the way to Houston where she is presently staying with a friend, and trying to recover from the trauma. She had to leave everything behind.

While we are all moved by the terrible suffering of so many people, the one thing we can do is help someone we know who has been through this nightmare. So I have decided with her friend Stan Goldberg in New York to put together a relief fund for her so that she can at least purchase some clothes and other necessities.

Any contribution that you can make will be deeply appreciated. Anything from $20 and up will help. If you wish to make a donation please send a check to me and I will get the money to her.

Jacki Apple, 3532 Jasmine Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90034. If you are unable to or do not wish to donate, that is okay too.

Thank-you for your compassion and generosity.

  With best regards,
  Jacki Apple
