Brian Evans - Tuscaloosa, Alabama

melea
melea (time slice), 2005; 8" x 26", inkjet print on cotton rag paper

Artist Statement:

In "time slice" a temporal expression (an abstract animation) is sliced in time. Thus we see, in a static image, the score of a visual music. (an exquisite esquisse?) Time flows left to right and we see undulations of waves and color, traces of time moving through space. We hear the colors. We listen with our eyes. In "green pods" and others in this series (sonic maps) there is frozen music. The pattern is caught in the moment and there is visible sound.
