Artist Statement:
This is a series of images form my recent exhibit – “Exuberant Nature.” The entire show and installation shots can be viewed at my website. All of these images are created on a flatbed scanner. There is no camera involved. I compose each image directly on the scanner and then develop the “Elvis velvet black” of the background in Photoshop. Each image is printed either on archival paper or on fabric so the light can be transmitted through the image and creates an extraordinary glow of color and detail. I have pushed the limits of inkjet printing to achieve detail, tone and color, accuracy not possible photographically.
