- ATHENA TACHA was one of two invited artists to give a paper on her recent work, "From Spacetime to Quantum Cosmology: a Sculptor's Search for Intangible Reality", at the annual conference of the Society for Literature and Science (SLS) at Austin, TX, Nov. 23-26.  Co-panelists/respondents were physicist Sidney Perkowitz and astrophysicist Craig Wheeler.  http://www.oberlin.edu/art/athena/tacha.html  

- LUKE JERRAM directed an ambitious project over Bristol, UK.  Seven hot air balloons carrying audio speakers broadcast different parts of a composition designed for the sleeping, dreaming public below.  http://www.lukejerram.com  

- LENI SCHWENDINGER - Dreaming in Color: An Illuminated Color-Field is the ewest art-in-architecture addition to the Seattle Center campus.  The 300'  by 45' illuminated color-field was a collaboration including Schwendinger's  lighting design. Sunset Magazine has called the project "one of the best  public art pieces" in the west. http://www.lightprojectsltd.com

- SUSAN KAPROV - A comprehensive article on the recent work of the artist will appear in the November 2003 issue of NY Arts Magazine and Berliner Kunst Magazine. The article, written by art critic John Perreault, can also be viewed on line at: Nyartsmaga@aol.com http://www.kaprov.com

- Micrographic artist DEE BREGER has won first prize in the international Science and Engineering Challenge (photography category) sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, as announced in the September 12 issue of Science Magazine.  The prizewinning entry was a colorized scanning electron micrograph of tree rings depicting a catastrophic climate cooling in the years 536 and 537 C.E.  Dee also won second prize in the same category.

Two of Dee's micrographs won finalist positions in the Royal Geographical Society's Photographer of the Year contest, as announced in the August issue of Geographical Magazine (UK).  These two images, one of an Antarctic silicoflagellate and the other a detail on a tarantula's leg, are currently on display in the Science Museum of London in an exhibition of the winning photos.

- HILARY LORENZ - her new series of etchings “The Greatest Show on Earth” are available through Dan Ferrara at Big Cat Gallery, NYC, 154 Orchard Street, NYC.  bigcatgallery@earthlink.net The work portrays the female body. Some of the etchings were published at the Belgium Ministry of Culture, Frans Masereel Center.
 
- TOVA BECK-FRIEDMAN has just returned from Sumter, South Carolina, where she participated in a site-specific installation event called "Accessibility 2003 - From the Outside In.”  Her piece, titled "Chrysalis", is a permanent environmental sculpture composed of an earth mound with a sitting element built along its edge. - AMY IONE's work will be included in a group exhibition at the San Bernardino County Museum from Sept 24 - Nov 8.  Also, she received a merit award for a piece in "Passageways -- This Way Out, This Way Through", a group show at the Sebastopl Center for the Arts from July 17-Aug. 24.  http://www.studio-ione.com

- LEAH SIEGEL – “Transform” – an exhibition of digital drawings and The New Mexico Capitol Art Foundation has chosen four of her digital drawings for its Art Collection to be on permanent display in the State Capitol.

- PETER FORBES is invited to submit a sculpture piece to the "4th Biennale Internazionale dell 'Arte Contemporanea", Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Italy, December 6-14, 2003.
