- Jim Pallas was commissioned this winter by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to make six sculptures that would encourage visitors to make donations that will be used to support activities that improve wild amphibian habitats. Jim created interactive sculptures [large toads] that respond to the actions of donations being put into the mouth of the toad with a repertoire of frog and toad related quips, sound effects, and music samples. The Detroit Zoo has had a Pallas' talking toad, since 2000.
