- SYNAPSE: art-sci collaborations in Australia

This database is a major component of the Australia Council's New Media Arts Board Synapse, art and science initiative. The database will act as an essential tool in the ongoing development of art and science collaborations and provide a resource with information on artists, scientists and organisations working in the area of cross-disciplinary research across the fields of art and science in Australia. ANAT will continue to develop and maintain the database, and encourages members with an interest in art and science to contact ANAT with suggestions and feedback. SYNAPSE will launch in mid-September, 2002 at:

PRESENTER: Julianne Pierce/artist, curator, Director of ANAT

Saturday 3:45 - 4:15 (Auditorium)

- The ArtSci INDEX
[ASCI's online "matchmaker" for collaborators]

The ArtSci INDEX will be a new, user-friendly, online research tool with a searchable database and special matching function. Individuals will be able to find the people, resources, equipment, and even potential funding for their current or future art-sci projects. There is a SAMPLE TOUR of the INDEX up at the ASCI website now from which we are collecting feedback from the field. Send us yours! The INDEX will also be joined by an online dialogue component for helping to facilitate artscience practice. [The INDEX will be beta-tested in late November and we hope fully-functioning by the time of the symposium.]

PRESENTERS: Cynthia Pannucci/artist, curator, Director of ASCI & Gregorio Rivera/artist, scholar in digital communities
