| June 28 - July 14 Central Fine Arts, 596 Broadway, New York City ASCIs third digital art competition and exhibition, DIGITAL2000, brings some pleasant surprises and creates new support for the field. This years jurors: digital prints - Marilyn Kushner, Curator of Prints and Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum; and net.art - Jon Ippolito, artist and Curator of Media Arts at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, reviewed three times as many artist submission than in previous years. Last year, even though artists from around the world entered the competition, all eight winners were from the USA, five from the NYC area. Of this years twenty-three winning artists, nearly two-thirds are from across the United States, one-third from the New York City area, and four internationals (two from China; one Australia; and one from Japan). DIGITAL'2000 was also an occasion for ASCI to form new partnerships with two well-respected art galleries, Central Fine Arts in Soho and Silicon Gallery in Philadelphia, thus creating a travelling exhibition. And, continuing ASCI s commitment to both professional and public education, our net.art winners will give short Internet presentations of their websites during the opening night reception from 6-7pm on June 28 at Central Fine Arts. Then, from 7-9pm, current issues and exciting new research about digital printer technology will be discussed in our panel, DIGITAL2000 is made possible through the sponsorship of: Shutterfly, ArtByte, and Fusebox with special thanks to Shutterfly for helping to underwrite the exhibition catalogue. We also gratefully acknowledge a donation from Canson, USA and this web-segment design that was donated by Yee Peng Siew.
