Artist Statement:

My photographs are of genetically engineered mice. I was elated to witness the captivating process of genetic engineering while shooting in a medical research lab in New York. The huddled group of one-day-old mice juxtaposes a x-day of a deceased mouse exposing the curve in its spine caused by a genetic mutation. The companion piece to this work is the beautifully fluorescing protein and DNA structures of mouse tissue. I am fascinated by the formal arrangement of the structures along with the arrangement of the mice themselves. I am especially engrossed by the power, elegance, and beautiful created in the microbiology lab.
