Polaris Pavilion by Robin Locke Monda, 2001, 37" x 26", Epson 1520 Color Stylus print on water color paper

Artist Statement:

This print is the result of musings on the role of time in the creative process. It is a major element in artistic and scientific processes. Artist and scientist alike are affected by perception, which occurs over time and is reflected upon in memory. Patterns are revealed over time, through observation and experimentation. Our measurements often depend on units of time anchored in the movement of mechanical or digital devices, which in turn, are based on our interpretations and observations of the sun, the stars, the planets in motion.
