Artist Statement:

These works are from a series called Snowflakes/Laceflowers which I researched at the Banff Centre for the Arts in May/June 2001 with assistance from the Canada Council for the Arts. They are models of the topological aspects of benzenoids and coronoids which are systems as mathematical objects that have counterparts in hydrocarbon molecules. In this work, I am interested in the territory that abstraction, Modernism, and popular culture share in relation to Science.
