The Earth is Art, 2000 42" x 42" Roland archival inkjet print on film

Artist Statement:

"The Earth is Art" is an abstract impression of the earth. It was developed from a visual and compositional approach, rather than from a geographical one. The initial sense of familiarity that has developed from our many years of looking at the earth from afar is brought into question by the unreal landscape. The idea for the image came from realizing that the word "art" is contained within the word "earth". I am now working on a series of globes based on the national colors and geographical features of different countries around the world.
